2011 Swim Team Registration

Registration for the 2011 Sea Lions Swim Team will begin on April 30th (from 8:30am-noon), at the annual Spring Workday. Come out and register for the team, meet the coaches, and ask any questions you have about the Sea Lions Swim Team.

If you are unable to register at the Spring Workday and are a returning swimmer, please check your family folder in the Ribbon Box for your registration form, verify the information, sign, attach your check and place in the swim team parent coordinator’s folder whose name appears on the bottom of your form. Forms will be available starting the first day of practice. New to the swim team or have questions? Please email swimteam@scottishills.org.

Kast-A-Way Swimwear is our suit vendor. Kast-A-Way will be at registration day with suits for swimmers to try on and order. Kast-A-Way will also have goggles, drawstring bags, and other accessories available for sale. Families are strongly encouraged to attend registration day so that swimmers can try on and order the suits they need.

Suits will not be available at the pool or from the team coordinators; all suit orders, returns, etc. will be handled by Kast-A-Way.

The first swim team practice is tentatively scheduled to be held May 16, 2011.

Participation on the swim team is open to children between 4 and 18 years of age (age as of June 1). SHRC requires that swimmers be able to swim, unaided, the following distances by Time Trials:

Age              Strokes                                           Distance
6 and Under      Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke               15 yards
7 through 10     Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly    1 length of the pool (25 yards)
11 through 18    Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly    2 lengths of the pool (50 yards)

Please note that a basic ability to swim the strokes is required to participate. Although technique and stroke instruction will be provided during swim team practices, the coaches will not be able to provide extensive one-on-one instruction to the swimmers. Children who register for the team, but cannot complete the required distances by Time Trials, will be provided with a full refund of team registration fees. We cannot provide a refund for swimsuit or spirit wear purchases.
