How points are earned

Only the main event is scored and earns points toward winning a meet. The main event swimmers are the 3 or 4 fastest timed swimmers for each stroke in each age/gender bracket. Scoring for all individual events:

First place: 5 points
Second place:  3 points
Third place:   1 point

Only the first place relay team earns points - 5 points.

In case of a tie, the place points are added together and the points are evenly split.

Volunteer Raffle

You can win free 2011 swim team membership or other great prizes!

Each time a member of your family volunteers to work at a regular season meet or Cary City Meet, your family will receive 1 entry in the Volunteer Raffle. Every shift counts as an entry. The more you volunteer, the more chances you have to win!

Drawing to be held at the Awards Banquet on July 21.

  • You must sign in at the meets to ensure you are entered into the raffle. Entries will be accumulated and tracked by the Volunteer Coordinators based on signed volunteer sheets.
  • You must work at least 4 volunteer shifts to be eligible for the drawing.

Volunteer Policies

Volunteer requirements

All families are asked to volunteer for a minimum of 4 volunteer shifts during regular season meets.

Families with swimmers participating in the Cary City Meet are asked to volunteer for those special events.

Sub Policy

If a meet is rained out, all volunteers are needed to work the same shift at the rescheduled meet. Volunteers who cannot attend the rescheduled meet are responsible for finding a sub.

Parents who signed up to volunteer and then find they can no longer work the shift are responsible for finding a sub.

Volunteers are expected to make their best effort at finding a sub for the shift they signed up to work. If an emergency situation arises, or a sub cannot be found, the volunteer coordinators should be contacted.

Meet nights

Volunteers should sign-in on volunteer sheet at meet. SHRC's Volunteer Coordinator will be available to help volunteers sign in, direct volunteers where to go and what to do, answer questions, etc.
