2008 Social Activities
Welcome to the 31st Season of Fun at the
Scottish Hills Club. We're looking forward to a number of great events,
including our old standbys and trying a few new activities. Volunteers are wanted for all events and the only requirement
is that we have fun!
Easter Egg Hunt
Our annual Easter egg hunt will take place at SHRC, starting at
8:30am with coffee, juice, and doughnuts. The kids are divided into age groups
and egg hunts are time-staggered so that parents can enjoy all their children
having fun. We have 4 age groups: 3 & under, 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds,
and 8 & up. Each group has their own area to hunt.
This event does not have a rain/snow date, so it will be held regardless of
the weather. We suggest that kids wear play clothes and shoes that can get dirty. Don't
forget a basket or bucket for collecting eggs and a camera for pictures with
the Easter Bunny.
Spring Work Day
Please join us for the annual ritual of the Spring Work Day! We
will meet at the pool on the morning of Saturday, April 28th, starting at 8:30 AM
and REFRESHMENTS will be served! Meet the other members and enjoy
fellowship with your friends and neighbors while getting the pool
ready for another summer of fun. We encourage you to bring your
children as an educational experience, a healthy dose of volunteerism,
and to prove the old saying that many hands make light work! Let’s set
a record for attendance this year!!!
There are
plenty of tasks that need to be done, including cleaning, setting out
deck furniture, repairs, painting, landscaping, etc. Any and all
skills are needed and welcomed. Old clothes that can take getting
dirt, paint, or bleach on them is a necessity. If you have any ideas
about projects that you have wanted to see done in the past, please do
not hesitate to email Jeff Danes at
Facilities@ScottishHills.org and we will either add them to the
work day list or add them to our Long Range Facility Plan.
Remember,
members who participate in workday are entered in the annual raffle
for a free annual membership drawn at the Annual Members Meeting.
Mark your calendars now and come help get the pool ready for another
great season. Whatever amount of time you can offer will be greatly
appreciated and will make a difference!
Sneak Preview Weekend
If weather and conditions permit, we'll get a chance to dip our
toes in the water the weekend before Memorial Day. If all goes well,
we'll be open Saturday May 19th from 10am-10pm and Sunday noon-8pm.
Opening Day Celebration
Come join your neighbors and friends to celebrate the beginning of
summer by joining us at Scottish Hills on Saturday May 26th. We'll
open the pool officially at 10am and kick off the season right with
a free hot dog cookout at noon.
Ice Cream Social
We're serving vanilla and chocolate ice cream, as well
as orange sherbet, with all the toppings! Cost is $1 per bowl.
Midnight Swims
Bring the whole family to
enjoy a moonlight dip in the pool. The pool will stay
open until midnight.
Adult Happy Hour
Come out for a few hours of adult only activities (poker, anyone?) and conversation with
friends and neighbors. BYOB and a little dessert to share, if
you can. (Remember, no glass containers, please.)
Annual 4th of July Celebration
SHRC offers a terrific day of fun for the whole family on the 4th of July.
There will be lots of games and tournaments to participate in from 10:30am
until 4pm, as well as a free hot dog cookout at noon. Sign up for the
tournaments when the pool opens. Bring the kids' decorated bikes for the
bike contest. Plan a fun family day at the pool! (Please note: The pool will close at
6pm so everyone can enjoy the evening celebrations.)
Adult Social
Info to come....
Remember to sign-up and pay at the Front Desk
before the evening of July 17th, because on July 21 we kick the kids
out and party!
(Please note: The Pool will close that evening at 5:50pm for
setup.)
Middle School Social
It's the Middle School students' turn to have a fun evening at the
pool from 9pm-11pm. There will be pizza and soda. Admission is
$4. Guests are welcome to come with a member. Please sign up at the
front desk by noon on the day of the event. Mariel would love to
hear any suggestions from the kids. We are trying to do a Dive-In
Movie Night Once again. Movie suggestions should include only films
with a PG13 or tamer rating, and may not include adult language or
sexual content.
Parent volunteers are needed. Please contact
Mariel Swiggard.
Elementary School Social
We'll have a special time at the pool for rising K-5th graders. The
pool is NOT closed for this one - we'll have an activity in the far
shelter and possibly the seats on that end of the pool.
Parent volunteers are needed. Please contact
Mariel Swiggard.
Fall Fun Day
We'll hang on to the summer with one final day of family fun. Join
us to
enjoy music and field games.
