Do I have to live in Scottish Hills neighborhood to join the pool?
No. Any resident of North Carolina can join.
Can I take a tour of the facilities?
Yes. You may tour the facilities anytime during pool hours by making a request at the front desk. The Manager on duty will arrange for a tour of the facility. Pre-season tours available in early May by request. Contact the membership coordinator to request a tour today!
Is SHRC a year-round facility?
No. SHRC typically offers services from May until September.
What is the cost to join the pool?
New members pay a one time, non-refundable, application and membership fee. After that, members only pay annual dues based on the membership option chosen. Please contact our membership coordinator for more information on fees and membership availability, or visit our Membership Information page for more details.
What are the annual dues?
Annual dues range per year depending on the membership option chosen. More details about the membership options can be found on our Membership Information page.
How do I become a member?
Simply complete the SHRC Membership Application and pay the membership and application fees.
How do I pay membership fees and dues?
We offer several methods for making payments:
- Through Paypal – the link from our payments page will take you to Paypal’s secure site where you can pay by credit card, or if you have a paypal account, through direct transfer from your checking account.
- By requesting an invoice – if you would like to pay by EFT and do not use Paypal, request an invoice from the treasurer.
- By check – you can mail a check for your fees and/or dues to SHRC, PO Box 859, Cary, NC 27512
Can I bring guests?
Yes. You can bring a guest anytime for a nominal fee. The only exceptions are on Opening Day and the July 4th Celebration when the fee increases due to the free hot dog lunch. We also offer Frugal Fridays where guest fees are reduced after 6pm on Fridays all season long. See Policies for guest fee amounts.
What do we offer
What amenities does Scottish Hills Recreation offer?
Membership into SHRC allows the use of our 8 lane pool, dive wells, slides, fenced baby pool with partial shade, grills, concession stand and shelters. We also have volleyball, frisbee golf, shuffleboard, cornhole, ping pong and foosball available for our members.
Can the shelters and grills be reserved for use during a private party?
Yes. This is one of the great features of our pool! Members may reserve a shelter or the screened porch during pool hours by completing a reservation application with the pool manager and leaving a nominal deposit which is refundable after your function. All non-member guests are subject to a guest fee. See Policies for details. Other points:
The screened porch, grill deck and far shelter can be reserved for a maximum of 4 hours.
Grills can be rented for a nominal fee, regardless of whether or not a room or shelter is rented.
No reservations can be made for Grand Opening Weekend, July 4th or Labor Day and beyond.
Do you offer any aquatic sports and if so, how competitive is the atmosphere surrounding events?
Does SHRC offer any organized social events?
Yes! We have an Easter Egg hunt, Opening Day Lunch, 4th of July Bash, and Cardboard Boat Regatta, as well as movie nights, beer & food trucks, cornhole tournaments, and more. Check out our calendar for all our events!
What activities are there for the adults?
Early bird lap swim for exercise, a designated lap lane during normal pool hours, food truck socials, 4th of July Bash and the occasional beer truck. See our calendar for specific dates and events.
Is alcohol allowed at the pool?
No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the premises. Occasionally, the SHRC Board of Directors will host social events where a vendor will have approved alcoholic beverages available for purchase to enjoy at the pool.
Can we smoke or vape at the pool?
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere inside the fenced perimeter of the pool, including the pool itself, the decks, main shelter, enclosed screen porch and restrooms. Smoking and vaping remain permissible in the parking lot, under the arbor between the parking lot and Tarbert Drive and in grassy lawn areas.
